The Possibility Podcast Episode 008: Who Am I?

“Who am I?” is a common question that many people ponder. In this episode inspired by his popular article, Mel Schwartz explains why this may in fact be the wrong question to be asking.

He proposes that this question searches for a fixed, unchanging identity as opposed to a worldview which embraces change and uncertainty. He suggests that it would be advantageous to reflect, instead, on “How might I wish to experience my life?”

The former question seeks a fixed answer. The latter shifts us into the process of becoming.

Mel contrasts these opposing worldviews and explains how they inform our sense of self and our ability to navigate change in conversation with author and memoirist Paul Samuel Dolman, host of the What Matters Most podcast. Together, they engage in some provocative out-of-the-box thinking, which teases us to come out of our familiar zone.
